Ecological succession is the observed process of change in the species structure of an ecological community over time. A community begins with pioneering species and develops until it is a complex, stable self- perpetuating one. The sometimes subtle and sometimes glaring alterations to an ecosystem force it to change. I am fascinated by Nature’s perseverance through adverse events. Nature’s ability to heal and regenerate after the occurrence of human intervention is a prevalent theme in my painting practice.
